Dutch Improv Festival Groningen

Saturday April 19 I was 'up north' in the beautiful city of Groningen to musically accompany a motley collection of improvisation theatre actors at the first Dutch Improv Festival. The organizing committee scheduled both theatre sports games and the 'long form,' and I made an appearance in both improvisation disciplines. Especially the long form was fun. Accompanying this form was very challenging and I think for the audience this form was also most entertaining. The teams I played for were great: De Legendariërs, Ulteam, Op de Geest, Tilburg Tigers, Buiten Bereik, and Sub Rosa really performed well. Bks Birthday

On Saturday we celebrated Bks (a.k.a. d-Trumpet) birthday. For d-Trumpet a surprise party was organized in the center of Utrecht, where we went to a startling good restaurant. This evening's motto: "Catching up," since we don't see each other that often. A great event!

New York - New Achterhook

My top experience in March 2008: a 10-day visit to New York City. For my work I attended a large educational conference and further I visited two universities (NJIT; Princeton). Although I had been in the Big Apple before, the city scenery impressed me again. Traveling to NYC by train from Newark Airport means a sudden confrontation with the city life after leaving Penn station. Whoosh... skyscrapers, traffic, people. I walked to my hotel in the Theatre District and although abroad it suddenly felt a bit 'like home': I saw this great billboard with this reference to a 'typical' Dutch brand. New York or... New Achterhook?
